This Powerline exposé is based on a careful fact-checking dissection of the text of Obama's first, more literary autobiography, Dreams From My Father, drawing the conclusion that much of its content is fantastical -- fabricated -- simply never happened.
The book has previously been examined less for the truth or falsity of its content than for the truth or falsity of the claim that Mr. Obama is responsible in any substantial way for writing it at all.
The case against that claim has best been made by Jack Cashill of American Thinker. In his initial analyses, Cashill did not deny that the events of the story line of Dreams were provided by Mr. Obama from the notes he toiled over for more than a year, attempting, without success, to produce a book himself. Cashill's linguistic, stylistic analysis concluded that the most likely author of the book is Obama's long-time associate, domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

Cashill's case for the likelihood that Obama's autobiography was constructed by a ghost-writer makes all the more plausible the claim that he is a man too comfortable with self-serving fabrication -- so much so that even the bare facts of the book he didn't write have themselves been fabricated, as carefully dissected by David Maraniss. In his own book, Obama admits to being pretty much addicted to smoking the weed. It now appears that he also developed an addiction to lying.
Cashill, who has also done his homework on the birth certificate/draft registration controversy, now turns his hand to the bogus bio-facts scandal, joined by other American Thinker contributors.
